John C. Anderson Apartments Honored with National AIA Housing Award

Philadelphia, Pa. (May 14, 2015) - John C. Anderson Apartments has been named as a 2015 recipient of an AIA Housing Award for Specialized Housing by The American Institute of Architects (AIA). The property was developed by Pennrose Properties, LLC, one of the nation's leading multifamily and mixed-use developers, and dmhFund.

Jury comments highlighted the building's exterior façade and the manner it blends into the neighborhood while still making a design statement. It is the first time this award has been won by a Pennrose development. Representatives from Wallace Roberts & Todd, the development's architect, will be on hand to receive the award at the AIA Convention in May in Atlanta, Ga.

"We are always honored when one of our developments is recognized by our industry associations," said Richard K. Barnhart, CEO of Pennrose Properties. "It is even more rewarding when our mission to improve the lives of our residents is recognized as part of one of our developments."

Located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia's arts and entertainment area, the property has been acclaimed for its impact as one of the first LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender)-friendly senior affordable apartment buildings in the country.
