Ribbon Cutting Held for John C Anderson LGBT Senior Apartments

 

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held February 24, 2014 to celebrate the opening of the John C. Anderson Apartments, a LGBT, low income senior housing apartment complex. The apartments named for John C. Anderson, a Philadelphia City Council member broke ground in November 2012 and was completed in October 2013 by DOMUS, a Philadelphia based general contractor

Located at 249 South 13th Street, in Philadelphia Gayborhood, the six-story residence has 56 one-bedroom units.  The building has solar thermal hot water system, a green roof, community room, courtyard, outdoor deck and retail space The project was funded through a Philadelphia HOME grant, Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program funds, and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.  Pennrose Properties was the developer and  WRT Design was the project architect.

Expected to be in attendance for the ribbon cutting are Senator Robert Casey,  Former Governor Ed Rendell,  Mayor Michael Nutter ,Rep. Bob Brady, Rep. Chaka Fattah, Rep. Allyson Schwartz, State Treasurer Rob McCord,  Brian Hudson, PHFA, State Sen. Tony Williams, State Sen. Michael Stack, State Sen. Larry Farnese, State Rep. Mike O'Brien,  State Rep. Dwight Evans, Council President Darrell Clarke, Councilman Mark Squilla, Councilman James Kenney  and Sheriff Jewell Williams.
